A group built for the work most men never make time for.
At the Essence began with a simple observation: men want a serious place to understand themselves, and there are very few of them. So we made one.
Denver had the outdoors, the community, and the ambition, but not this.
When you move somewhere new, you notice what's missing. There were run clubs and networking nights and plenty of ways to stay busy. What was hard to find was a room where men slow down and actually examine their beliefs, their patterns, and why they react the way they do.
At the Essence fills that gap. It's a recurring, in-person group where men do honest, reflective work together, grounded in mindfulness and therapy-informed personal growth, without being therapy, religion, or a following.
Started by someone who wanted this group to exist, and couldn't find it.
The founder spent his career in advertising, a field built on understanding why people believe what they believe and act how they act. A few years ago he moved to Denver and went looking for a men's group dedicated to that same kind of inquiry, turned inward. It wasn't there.
So he built it, and kept it peer-led on purpose. There's no expert at the front of the room. Everyone brings their own questions, and the value comes from thinking through them together, honestly, and without a script.
A few principles keep the group honest.
Peer-led, not guru-led
No leader with the answers. We're equals thinking out loud, which is exactly what makes it useful.
Honesty over comfort
We make room for the real thing: doubts, contradictions, the patterns we'd rather not look at.
Confidential by default
What's said in the room stays there. Trust is the whole foundation of the work.
Understand yourself, and
you change how you show up.
